Yeah - based upon the feedback - I'm not going to bother with CPU upgrade - too much of a hassle. I may, however, go for a 2nd SSD. As for your Amiga 4000 - that rocks! I had a used Amigo 1000 - but, sadly - I sold that off a couple of years ago...

Agreed.  I have a i7 3770 from 2012 which still rocks.
Much faster than the i7-7500 in my laptop I bought this year.

I use SSDs everywhere here, with a couple of spinning TB HDs for storage.
Samsung SSDs are excellent.

I even have a SSD in my 30 year old Amiga 4000.  mSATA with an IDE adapter.
