Another plug for Elegant Themes and a reminder similar to Ted that there's a lot of admin work to keep a "free" WordPress site updated and secure. After several years of being a half-assed (or worse) WordPress "expert", I went the hosted route and have used Squarespace, Strikingly, and Tilda.cc with success.
