Don't feel bad, I started off with the same strategy because some of my
clients 'wanted', <cough>needed</cough> FTP and LAN access for
retrieving application updates. But once I rolled out with HTTP/HTTPS
updates as a phase 1 solution, all the other requirements (FTP, LAN,
etc) just disappeared. KISS!
