Tan, Totally depends upon the codec used for compression. The earlier codecs take up to 300Kb of band width but the newer ones are around 64Kb. Just remember though that your speed is dictated by the UPLOAD speed which is 50% of the download speed.
I normally would recommend 3 VOIP channels per Mb of upload bandwidth when using mixed data/voice systems and this can increase if you dedicate a broadband link jus to VOIP. As others have said QOS (Quality of Service) plays a big part in acceptability.
