It's not a fox issue, but one of troubleshooting. I built several pcs
recently w/ windows xp to upgrade one clients old 98 machines on his
network. I installed them and they came up fine, running dhcp and getting an
ip address, hitting the internet, antivirus all loaded, MS Office, and all
the usual stuff. Some of the machines had intel Celeron chips, others had
amd chips and all were working fine. Except - a couple of seemingly minor
nits. The server is windows 2003 running active directory. None of the new
machines could join the domain and some of the machines, when pulling up
Excel documents were just pigs. It would take about a minute to open a
document across the network. The problem would worsen if you tried to view
the headers/footers in Excel.

At first I thought the problems might be related, but later found that
wasn't true. The inability to join the domain problem had to do with the dns
server. Once I straightened that out and re-scavenged the database, all was
good.

That left the other "issue". Printers can be a pain. As I was thinking
through the problem, it occurred to me that the only machines I was having a
problem with were connected to a brother laser printer, which was being
shared off a computer. I set the default printer to the other hp laserjet on
the network, and the files opened immediately. Apparently Excel binds the
printer to the documents; much like fox does/can with the frx in a report.
Anyway, I just thought some of y'all might benefit from this little tidbit
in the future.

John

I had a panic attack yesterday for the same reason. I found it to be "ON
ERROR SUSPEND" that I used for debugging and forgot to take it out before
sending to the customer. I returned to my normal "ON ERROR" routine and got
everything working fine.
