Very strange for me. I have a small home network - laptop and PCs with
WinXP, Win7ultimate, Win10home, Win10enterprise and Linux/Xubuntu and
everything marked as "public" is visible and usable without any
additional configuration.

Hi Ted et al
I tried everything there without success. I'm at the stage where the
desktop is showing no computers on the network (not even itself) and the
laptop is showing all the computers and a networked printer, but only if
SMB1 is enabled (which, after Alan's warning, I don't want to do). Would I
be right in thinking that I could solve everything by upgrading to Windows
10 Professional?
Many thanks
Paul Newton

Thanks Alan
I have now disabled SMB1 on both computers and the Network node in
Explorer now shows no computers at all (on either computer). Do I just
accept that this is a limitation of Windows 10 Home Edition?

Don't enable SMB1 support. You might as well leave your front door
open when you leave the house.
