My company, if I can get it going will need to work for 12 dollars per hour
to be competitive in the outsourcing rate.
We could probably charge 15 - 20 per hour because we're stateside and some
would be willing to pay a preimium for that, but how do you get the word out
when everybody that I write in the media won't even publish my letters...

Sounds like they too are getting paid by the large corporations <grin>

Subject: [NF] Intelligent (imo) H1Bs article

Can't recall if I read this here or from another forum, but just in case:

http://www.townhall.com/columnists/PhyllisSchlafly/2006/12/18/tech_industry_
has_ulterior_motive_regarding_h-1b_visas

 From the article:

"Three reasons motivate the tech giants to use their political clout and
political action committee contributions to increase H-1Bs:

1. Cost-cutting: H-1B visa holders are paid much less than Americans.

2. The influx of H-1B visa holders depresses the "prevailing wage" for all
computer techies and engineers.

3. The hiring of H-1B visa holders prevents potential competition from
Americans who might choose to work for other firms or start companies of
their own."

<...and...>

"But if it's really better to outsource, there is no need for H-1Bs.
Nobel economist Milton Friedman labeled H-1B visas a government "subsidy" to
enable employers to get workers at a lower wage."

<mjb>I've had at least 2 "Company Men" tell me that #1 and #2 were not true
in the past....although that doesn't mean I believed them. As for that last
comment I copy/pasted, to me--it's freakin' common sense, a "no brainer"
analysis. You don't have to be a Nobel economist to know that it's just to
get cheaper labor.</mjb>
