I looked over the HyPower web site, and their concept is really to not
power the auto using hydrogen, but to make the combustion engine more
efficient, much like the hybrid auto makes the auto more efficient and
reduces loss of energy to light, heat and mechanical imperfections from
the burning of fossil fuels.

In the hybrid auto, energy that would otherwise be wasted is converted
to electricity and stored in batteries for later use.

HyPower concept takes energy that would otherwise be wasted and converts
it to electricity for use in creating hydrogen from water. The hydrogen
is then channeled back into the fuel system for a cleaner, more powerful
burning fuel. HyPower's system would help clean up the environment and
increase gas mileage by around 20%.

The hydrogen fuel cell concept uses hydrogen stored in fuel cell to
create electricity. The electricity generated by the fuel cell is then
used to power the auto. The Hybrid and HyPower concepts are
transitional toward the ultimate goal of a hydrogen fuel cell auto
sometime in the next 15 to 20 years.
