Oh, sure. Start a distro flame war. Well, at least it's not SuSE! <g,d&r> Seriously, folks, all the distros ship the same kernel, the same packages, the same GNOME, the same KDE, the same Python. They differ a little bit in what they specialize in (MEPIS on media, TrixBox on VOIP, Ubuntu on general desktop, Knoppix on LiveCD utilities), how quick they want to integrate new stuff, the tailfins and the amount of chrome. All are pretty good for learning your way around. I think the question is similar to which Fox books you should own or which Fox magaines you should subscribe to. ALL OF THEM is the optimal answer. Knowing your way around a couple of distros, how to use apt and yum and rpm, GNOME and KDE, is the best strategy for being available to the widest range of opportunities out there. -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
