Don't take the bait. Don't feed the troll. The article is by a stringer, and one who's glossing over a lot of material. "More and more are standardizing on Microsoft" is claimed without citing sources. A dozen paragraphs down, long after the PHBs have ADD (look! a shiny ad!) and moved on, they admit there are a lot of downsides to lock-in (Duh!). This is just the same old thing: a writer playing "Vendor Sports" - Brand X vs. Brand Y - with no insights, few facts and an obviously slanted smear, filling pages just to justify advertisers. I mean, this is "Redmond Magazine: The Independent Voice of the Microsoft IT Community" for cripesakes. It's the same old question: Best-of-Breed and customized solutions vs. All-In-One and turnkey solutions. What's the answer? "It depends." If you care, ask an IT professional. If you don't, follow the free advice of a writer for redmondmag.com. -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
