The only problem with long prison sentences is - you and I pay for their
miserable existence. There's also the problem of them getting released back
into society, and the possibility of escape. The answer to the problem is a
psychological one. It's behavior modification 101. However, we don't apply
classical conditioning in the appropriate manner. We do modify the
gangster's behavior, but not in the right way. The way our justice system
works, it reinforces the notion that there are few to no penalties for
deviant behavior. Couple that with a growing trend of normalizing the
abnormal behavior and you see cause and effect for the downward spiraling of
humanity.

I still say, make me King and I will fix this. "It's Good to be King."

Well, that is an alternative - but, jerkwad such as I am, I think we should 
give them a chance with a really hard prison sentence rather than death on 
the street.
