As the husband of an aggressive (but lovely) attorney, I am a huge
advocate of certification. It provides significant increases in
culpability with minimal additional cost. These are some near-facts
that support my position:

* 100% of commercial airline accidents occur while the aircraft is under
the control of certified operators, mechanics, etc.

* 100% of professional liability claims (medical, legal, accounting)
involve alleged malfeasance of a certified practitioner.

* 70% of all automobile accidents occur while the vehicle is being
operated by a licensed driver.

Using certified people to get a job done is never a guarantee of
success, but should failure come your way, you (or your survivors) will
always recover more damages if a certified operator, practitioner, or
professional was involved.

And higher damages mean higher fees for the attorney winning the case
(i.e. my wife).
