Funny thing, I produced my app within 2 years and released it for commercial use with my clients. But I did not pursue becoming a Gold Partner (very expensive annual fee). Empower ISV was offered to me for a 3rd year, which I accepted. For me it provides a very inexpensive way to get the M$ platforms (O/S) and apps needed to create my solutions. For M$ it help dissuade developers from moving to competitive (or free) solutions. I am certain my situation would be frustrating to M$ if they were clearly aware of it, as it is mostly for the O/S, VFP, Virtual PC (now free) and Office that I use the MDSN subscription. I will likely never deploy a MS SQP Server based app, or anything else that will cause my clients to pay extraordinarily high license fees for anything other than O/S and perhaps Office. At least they will get that, eh?
