Al, >From what I can dig out the Vista Crypto API (Crypto New Generation) CNG is downward compatible with the standard API. The new extensions seem to deal exclusively with Smart Card Readers.
Is the problem that it just doesn't work at all, or is it just throwing errors? It does seem odd though as i.e. uses crypt to do its business. In fact I think the original crypt came from i.e. rather than windows itself. I will try to find out otherwise vista will have to go and never be seen again :) I don't fancy a rewrite just yet.
