I edited FoxTalk for three years using OOo, exchanging documents in DOC format with my layout person at Pinnacle as well as with each author, using revisions extensively. No one ever noticed. We produced every book since 2001 using OOo as well, exchanging files with authors, editors and layout folks. I would sometimes use OOo on Windows, sometimes on Linux. Except for some problems with bullets and numbered lists the first year or two, no problems. Nowadays, our books go straight from OOo to PDF to the printer. We don't print galleys for the printer - they take our files electronically. Again, no one knows the difference. My kids all use OOo for a variety of school projects, word processing, spreadsheet, presentations... exchanging documents with teachers and peers is seamless. If your users have extensive macros in existing spreadsheets, you will have a problem using those worksheets in OOo. That's the only caveat I can think of.
