If I read a thread, delete it, read other threads, do something else, 
and then come back and read the posts to the first thread that have 
arrived sonce I read it, I may not remember the exact context. We're 
all agreed that quoting the whole thread is an awful thing to do, but 
judiciously quoting what you're replying to is often helpful.
