VMWare abstracts out the CPU, video, networking (never needed audio). This means that the ESX and GSX server versions use a layer of services between the OS and the Virtual clients to "abstract" the systems IO and other needs... When you install a client onto (say the ESX version) this client gets an abstracted VMWare virtual video driver "from a service called VMWare Tools" that is called once the generic video services load (like VGA). Basically, VMWare has its own video and nic driver that it uses for the virtual instances... We use both GSX (now free) and the ESX version - and I have many VFP and FPDOS apps virtualized at this point in time... Cheers, John C.
