Presumably when you say "footer" above you mean page footer not group 
footer.
You need to go back to FPD 2.6 put the field in the group footer and 
tick the box "Swap page footer"   ;-)

Seriously though,  AFAIK the only place you can put this field and still 
get the correct data would be the group footer.  By the time you have 
got to the page footer it is on the next group.
