Then there is me... I installed Vista Ultimate (MSDN) on one of my beefier
PCs. Things went along fine, and I even managed to get connected to my LAN
and the outside world. I have not run any updates yet. I did try to
install VFP9, and it crapped out after trying to install some prerequisite
runtime files. I have found nothing re: that particular situation, so may
need to contact M$ Tech Support.

I also installed ProComm v-4.8, which was not ever "certified" for use with
XP - although it runs fine. The only hiccup was when the final phase of
installation griped about not being able to create the initial pw5.dir
(dialing directory file). I set the permissions to allow all users Full
Access rights for that specific directory, and its underlying directories.
I completed the installation after than with no further issue. I was even
able to hit a client's Linux Server via Telnet over my SonicWall VPN
connection.

I am guessing the VFP9 installation that failed may have something to do
with directory access permissions also. I will play with it later tonight.
If that is what is stopping the installation, then I guess I need to see
what needs to be done to allow installations to proceed in such a manner as
to not require me to manually reset directory permissions. Yuck, hairy
thought...

Performance was actually pretty smooth. For all the Fearing and Loathing I
had going on in my head, this so far is not as awful as I expected out the
chute. But, it is not as forgiving as XP or 2000 Pro either...

Ciao!

Gil
