Sorry to have to correct you, but we don't say "soda pop" down here. Everything 
is Coke, even if you want a Pepsi. "Would you like a Coke sir?" "Yes, make it a 
Mountain Dew" Sorta like that. Personally, when I say I want a Coke, I mean I 
want a Coke. Pepsi tastes like syrup.

There are places in Southern Illinois where people do talk like there are in 
the deep south.  I remember visiting some friends there and the kids were 
talking about having a soda pop pronounced  (sō'də) (from dictionary.com) n. 
See carbonated water. Chiefly Northeastern U.S., Eastern Missouri, & 
Southwestern Illinois.
