One last thing, I totally forgot.
There are LAWS on the books about division of property, it varies by
state. Your lawyer should know them intimately, assuming he specializes in
divorces. If the law is in your favor, she can still contest the dollar
amount to be paid to you at the time of the divorce hearing. However, your
lawyer uses the same templates that the rest of the lawyers use. You may
want to call the clerk of the court where the petition for divorce was
filed, and ask to receive/purchase a sample divorce decree that includes
alimony, child support, and division of shared property. If nothing else,
you'll get a better understanding of the wording used and what 'normally'
happens.
