I actually have little complaints with Windows XP and an Ubuntu server
right now... I have no desire or need to try another distro.

As in for use, or ever to look at? I installed my first XP machine
when it was called still codenamed 'whistler' in 2000. I then
purchased a laptop with XP in 2001, I believe. I still don't use it on
all my machines-- my work machine is W2K, for example(next
reload/machine will be XP).

Double click the red icon and on the left side, click "Change how
security center alerts me" and uncheck all 3 boxes. Save/close, and
the icon is gone. I believe there's also a service you can disable...
