REALbasic is not FOSS, but some might see that as a positive. There are very few legal issues if you are going to sell commercial applications. If the company stopped producing the product, you would still be productive with the product for years to come, even through 2015 and beyond. Wait. That sounds familiar. <g> Seriously, unlike VFP and M$, RB is "THE" product for REALsoftware. It is their bread and butter, and it is in their best interest to keep it going, and enhance it, make it better, etc. This is very refreshing to me when comparing it to VFP. What made VFP great was the passion and talent of the VFP team, "in spite" of the apathy of M$. REALbasic has a "rapid release" pattern where there are four releases a year. Some releases add enhancements, others just focus more on bug fixes. What can I say except "I like REALbasic."
Just to add to this discussion, Dabo is released under a license that allows you to create commercial applications with no additional license implications. Also very cool. If you add a toolkit to your project, make sure to check the licensing requirements for that toolkit, and that goes for Dabo as well as REALbasic as well as VFP. -Kevin CULLY Technologies, LLC Sponsor of FoxForward 2007 foxforward.net Matthew Jarvis wrote: > RealBasic looked promising and I dabbled with it a bit but (correct me > if I'm wrong) it isn't FOSS so if their company went belly up, I'd be > hosed... _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
