Rich is relative. I doubt John sees himself as rich. He has earned what he has built and has been a little lucky too. There is nothing wrong with that, and no matter where he lived that would check out OK. If he picked up his house and planted it in my neighborhood it would appraise for at about 5 times as much as it does where he is living now. Our neighborhood suddenly got trendy a few years back. That can happen anywhere. That trendy neighborhood problem is one of the reasons we have been getting gouged by pretty much everyone that raises a finger to work on our house.
