John, > Why do you need a general contractor? Why not just deal with the subs > yourself?
The bank is insisting on a general contractor. The one we are leaning toward right now has his trade licenses in cabinetry and finish carpentry. Since that's the stage we're in and we lost both those subs when we fired our general contractor for abandonment last week, we hope he takes the job. We may wind up going for a final with the barest of bare minimums complete and then going for a refinance. This has been a nightmare, but it didn't really fall completely apart until Steve had his surgery. He'll be back on his feet very soon so I hope that helps. We should have been moving into the house this month, but instead we're at least 6 weeks away from finished. It's a real curveball.
