You can also try:

Go to start, run, type in "CMD" and press enter

Then type in "ipconfig /release" with the space between ipconfig and the
/release
Then type in "ipconfig /renew" with the same as above
Then type in "ipconfig /all" and make sure the values are similar to:
        IP Address........192.168.1.xxx
        Subnet Mask.......255.255.255.0
        Default Gateway...192.168.1.xxx

If you go to http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm and
scroll down to step 10, there's a form that suggests Static IPs to
use.
