i have a very good buddy who did this for speed skating. His software  
actually manages the whole tournament. He wrote it for fun, but it  
spread like fire. He often gets asked to come to tournaments all  
round the world to train the (mostly volunteers) who work the system  
on-site. He picks and chooses those he wishes to attend. When he  
does, they pay. Been to Europe a few times that way.

Because it is speed skating, he also gets asked to Canada a lot, but  
who in their right mind would wanna go there?!?!?!?!?

(OK, OK, intentional flame bait. Sorry!)
