Both ... with a "but" thrown in there.

RB develops Desktop applications and also develops console applications
like you would want for web based apps.  RB also has multi-threading
capabilities.

The "but" comes in that I haven't been able to find a hosting company
that has the required libraries to run the latest RB applications in a
cheap (> $14/month) hosting plan.  Sure, you could to a virtual hosting
plan and install anything you'd like but you've jumped into the
$50/month rate.  Or, option #2, you could host it out of your
house/business on your own servers.

This is the same Achilles heel that VFP based web apps have: expensive
hosting.

For web apps, I'm afraid the mainstream choices are: PHP, Python, or .NET.
