You basically can only care so much, and you "use up" your caring for your people, first. We all SHOULD care for everyone equally, just like all God's chilren SHOULD have shoes, but it just ain't going to happen. IMHO.

Why aren't Americans saddened and shocked by these? I know this is cynical, but I honestly think if something happens EVERY DAY it's not news. (65 on Sunday, 51 on Monday, 85 on Tuesday). When I turn on NPR, and they say "In today's news, a car bomb exploded in Baghdad, killing 17 people and injuring 20.", I think: "That's not news. News would be: 'Today, no one was killed in Baghdad.'" Ditto for Middle East. It is tragic, it is wrong, but you just go numb after a while. Finally, the headlines for VT will also all be gone in 2 weeks, but that doesn't mean the deaths aren't important or tragic, it's just not news any more. -- Vince Teachout Caracal Software www.caracal.net 518-733-9411 _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
