Pete, Unless the percentage of diesel gets very low the engine will run no problems up to about 10% petrol. As you are aware, diesels will run on almost anything including vegetable oil once it has been cleaned.
However doing the reverse and putting diesel into a petrol engine immediately means stripping and draining the fuel system. I know as my ex wife did it twice within 2 weeks!
