It could be. I installed a WAP11 on 3.26.2002 and updated to the 54G
on 28-Jan-2003. They've been around for a while.

I just flashed that original 54G to DD-WRT, probably about the dozenth
firmware that one's had. Like (nearly) all the Linksys routers, it's
running Linux, so it's quite programmable: I've used it as a wireless
bridge, client, and access point. You can squeeze in lots of
functionality, like DNS, DHCP, firewalling, logging, and more.

Cheapest Linux box you can buy, and at less than 15 watts to boot!
