Mike,

Thoughts:

1. With some busy/complex forms, I've had limited success using JPG
images in the report definition, with added textboxes (over the jpg
image) to 'crash print' values onto the jpg image. See
http://www.wjarnold.com/downloads/3602r.gif for an example. I'm not
thrilled with the quality, but think that can be improved with effort
(maybe a different image type, or options creating the JPG, dunno yet).
What I do like is that it does make possible 'crash printing' onto
otherwise difficult forms, without taking a mountain of time. I believe
it was Malcolm who first suggested this approach.

2. I always cringe with automating reports like this because they
usually have evolved over a long period of trial and error time,
sometimes through generations, and while they have stood the test of
time and are highly regarded within the enterprise, the automated
counterpart is at odds with the old way out of the gate. Top example is
maybe the form isn't needed at all, and can be replaced with a tablet
PC. But that may be the hardest sell. Also, when dealing with busy
(tight on space) forms like these are considerations like handling
overflow, strike-throughs that the owner wants preserved, perhaps color,
'special' notation conventions that nobody mentioned until you're almost
finished, etc. Might be good to look over a few years worth of the
actual use of the form to catch these things.

Is there a way to create this in VFP9 without all kinds of crazy
tricks/kludges? The "red X" part on the rightside can be disregarded,
but for the rest, the client is pretty insistent on getting this kind of

output.

???

tia!
