I would think a good business move for MS would be to buy Yahoo, but
don't consume it, as you say. Consuming it would shrink their combined
user base most likely versus expanding or maintaining it. They can,
however, share search technology, advertising networks, etc., which
could be a very good thing overall.

Right now Yahoo's advertising network has some major problems-- it
seems for the advertisers, click fraud seems to run rampant. On the
publisher side, it's almost impossible to get context-relevent ads to
appear...  I'm not sure about Microsoft's efforts on this-- I believe
they are still getting their advertising network off the ground, but I
could be mistaken... Hopefully the merging of ideas, resources, and
technologies could make great strides in this area-- a realistic(i.e.
good) alternative to Google's Adwords and Adsense is very much
needed...
