Queen pokes fun at Bush gaffe
The Queen got her own back on President Bush last night for his gaffe on
Monday, in which he almost suggested that she was around in 1776.
Opening a dinner toast at a black tie dinner at the British ambassador's
residence in Washington, the Queen said: "I wondered whether I should
start this toast by saying, 'When I was here in 1776...', but I don't
think I will."
The 104 guests, who included Hillary Clinton, erupted in laughter along
with Mr Bush, who remarked later that "I can't top that one" at the
beginning of his toast.
