"Here, at 4.44 am on, a US patrol in two vehicles was surprised and
overrun by insurgents. The burned bodies of four soldiers and an Iraqi
interpreter were found on the road. Three others had disappeared. It was
obviously a mistake for a small and isolated detachment to be in an
insurgent-controlled area. Such is the fear of roadside bombs that a
relieving force took an hour to reach them."

"Such is the fear of roadside bombs that a relieving force took an hour
to reach them"

How many reports like this do we need before we realize ...?

----------

The neocon mission was to establish authority in the ME. They disguised
and packaged the mission with puffery laced with deceit, and convinced
enough people to go along with their agenda to get that invasion
launched.

True to the fanatic mold, they completely miscalculated two crucial
areas. First they miscalculated the resistance, and second they
miscalculated popular support. They've evidentially found enough
professional solider-types from a population of 300 million to keep the
fighting going, and they have extracted enough of our tax money over
time to build a formidable arsenal. But as history has shown time and
time again, there is no power stronger then the dedicated "hearts and
minds" of people who refuse to be conquered. The TV distorts this
resistance behind a cloak of "sectarian violence", but the truth is
that people in the Arab/Muslim world will not tolerate being occupied.
Surely we must intuitively know this, because we ourselves wouldn't
tolerate it either.

This gang, the perpetrators of that invasion, are now plotting and
scheming to unleash the Big Guns, and we're still letting them get away
with it.

How is this so? Because we're being fooled again. This time we're being
tricked into believing that because we've decided that invasion was a
mistake and no longer support it, they will listen and it will end.

False! Why? Because the gang still has the power. They still control the
gates of Congress, they still control our primary information supply,
and they still have their fingers on triggers of destruction the likes
of which the world has never seen. A single submarine can destroy an
entire country, and they have a fleet of them.

Since the 50's we've been in and out of the 'nuclear holocaust' mindset
so many times that we've become numb and jaded to the point where we all
know it's true, but have lost interest in talking about it anymore. We
now think that because it hasn't actually played out after so many false
alarms, that it cannot or will not happen. But the truth is that a
finger pushes a button and it does happen. Just like that.

Victory, in the conventional sense, is no longer a possibility. Now it's
becoming clear that there are only two strategic possibilities left:
withdrawing and accepting defeat, or pushing that button.

Which bring us to another thing we're being fooled about: the depth of
the gang's commitment. While here we are today, pretty much expecting
another Vietnam-style ending, with another embarrassing withdrawal and a
decade or so licking our wounds. But is that what the gang will actually
do? Will the military machine, the oil barons and the soldiers of
Israel, aka the neocons, accept a humiliating defeat, or will they push
that button before losing control?

They planned this mission for years, and then they took their shot. They
know they will not get another chance to establish their authority in
the ME, so this is it. This is the Big Showdown. And if you have any
doubt whatsoever about their resolve, do some research into the
permanent bases they are *still* building in Iraq.

Bush is disoriented and in a delusional stupor, but Cheney is a real
live monster. He is the gang's finger, fully capable of pushing that
button. All he needs is an excuse, and he and his cronies know all about
fabricating stories.

We have one recourse: justice. It is justice, not violence, that is the
means to the end. In case we've lost sight, the end is a peaceful world
engaged in eliminating suffering and building paths to our future in
space. Unjustified violence begets only more violence. If that wasn't
clear 4 years ago, it should be very painfully clear by now.

But justice lives down the street named truth, the turnoff to which we
missed some four + years back. It's still not too late to turn around,
but we surely don't have a mountain of time.

The light of day that shines into the house of justice will melt away
the masks of the charade, and from the truth it reveals will come the
demand that the perps be put on trial for crimes against humanity. Tens,
some say hundreds, of thousands of Iraqi's are dead so far, and their
country is destroyed. Not a one of those people did us any harm before
that invasion. Now, as a result of that invasion, we have countless
millions of people all over the world hating us and wanting to see us
destroyed. Stopping this madness is a matter of justice, true, but it's
also the way to put out the fire that threatens to engulf us all.

It appears that people here are afraid to go to the streets, because the
police have made it very clear they have no compunction to beat down and
jail protestors. That leaves us with the few who are unafraid, and for
others the Internet, at least until the gang moves to control it. Is
this enough? We're sure going to find out.
