You would have to give up a lot of maneuverability for the addition space. Can you imagine the body roll that thing would have on a winding road. How could you keep it from rolling over.
The station wagon and cross-over are designed to hug the road, even around sharp turns at high speeds. The Sprinter Van look like it would be about as much fun to drive as a school bus.
