Hello Bill: The situation I ran into is that I have built my applications
around a single database "name" for all of my databases. This has worked
great over the years.

Recently I have been moving to terminal services and creating a backup of
large file which involves opening up the original dbc and the target dbc.

What you suggest will work and what Ricardo suggests will work, but I am not
going to rewrite my applications to implement a backup routine.

The bug-a-boo is that dbc's don't have aliases like tables. You can only
really have one database open with one name.

We know we can put views in their own dbc. They will also look for one name
or "alias" as I call it, but you can only have one.

It makes perfect sense to me now, but it would be nice if the dbc could have
an alias like a table. Maybe it will in the next version! ;^)
