I'm doing some testing for a customer and discovered that I needed to
test our software against Windows 2000 Pro and Windows 2000 Server. (I
have these environments running in a lab, but can't find our original CD
images and need to do our tests in clean VM's vs. VM's created from my
existing 2000 setups)

When I went to the MSDN site, I discovered that all Windows 2000
downloads are no longer available - Microsoft had to remove these
downloads from MSDN as part of their settlement with SUN regarding MS's
illegal changes to the Java JVM.

The MS support person provided this feedback:

<quote>
Windows 2000 has been removed from MSDN subscriber download site because
of the Java Settlement Microsoft signed with Sun.

You may refer to this link:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/faq/default

If you already had the CD, you are not affected, but we can no longer
distribute the product. I hope you can understand that under the legal
settlement with SUN, Microsoft is not able to distribute products
containing JVM in them. Do you know someone who has the shipment so you
can refer to him?

If not, then you may have to do some hunting in used software stores,
check with community colleges in your area that might have a Computer
Science program. Or check the internet.

Because I am a licensed MSDN subscriber (via Empower program), I
interpret the above message to mean that another MSDN subscriber can
send me a Windows 2000 ISO images. If anyone can help me out, I would be
very grateful. Please contact me offlist at mal.greene at bdurham.com.

THANKS!

Malcolm
