There has always been problems with rf.
The difference is military and other commercial rf is high power, typically
more then 1,000 watts.

Wifi, cell phone, wireless phones are typically less then 5 watts

The higher power stuff will physically burn you if you're exposed to it when
transmitting, but the lower power stuff is harmless in my opinion.
