It's really petty and the sign of poor thinking to deliberately mis-
characterize thousands of people who are making things work. You're
enjoying this discussion thanks to Linux, SMTP, TCP/IP, Postfix,
sendmail, Mailman, Python, MySQL, ... All of which are open source
projects that have nothing in common with "overly-idealistic views of
the world".

Wrong again. You forget my first open source project: Codebook. Made
quite a decent living off of that for over a decade. I'm now working
on a paid wxPython project, with more coming along every day.
Overly idealistic would be someone who might expect two guys working
in their spare time to compete with the likes of Microsoft and other
major tool developers in a short period of time. I for one never
expected Dabo to become as capable as it has as fast as it has - I
had a much longer timeframe in mind.
