I've said, again and again and again, that busting up media monopolies
is an imperative for a free society, that the airwaves (in all the
forms) are a "public trust" that can only be served by providing equal
space to all points of view.

The Internet offers the basic mechanics. If it's not interfered with,
we'll see it eat the TV and we'll see a new breed of editors emerge, to
help us sort out the content (i.e. the differing points of view).

But - as we can EXPECT, that interference is happening in the form of
(a) consolidated ISP's (b) moving in the direction of "tiered services",
which is a way of busting up the level playing field. A level playing
field scares the powers-that-be to death because it nullifies their
power, so we can EXPECT that they will use ever clever scheme imaginable
to maintain the status quo.
