I've been working with Crystal 8.5 for the past month (it's outdated, but the EMR software we use doesn't support Crystal XI).
Last week, I re-implemented a report I had half-done in CR, which I had been working on for a couple of days, in VFP9, and had passed the point where I had left off in less than a day. So, why should I use Crystal instead of VFP? What does it do better? (Besides integrate into the EMR app and Crystal Reports Server, of course.) I'm trying to figure out if the pain I'm having is because I don't know it well enough, or if that's the nature of the beast. Things about CR that drive me batty(er?): * You can't edit a report field -- to change formulas, you have to drop a new object on the report to replace the old one. * Each formula is a separate window: you can't create a function library. * Formulas don't execute every time unless you put a WhilePrintingRecords function call * Turning multiple fields red for a particular value requires a separate call for every field object. And the place to put this function is a couple of clicks in... _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
