Backups yes, but I haven't been imaging this machine.  I know I should, I do
for others but this one just never floated to the top of the list.... So it
figures it would be the one to crash.   Murphy's law...

Are you not doing backups of your drive such as using Norton ghost where you
can restore from a backup and save the work of reinstalling everything?
Norton ghost also has disk to disk copy so you would be able to copy
everything from the one drive to the larger drive just as it is.
