Mathematicians will tell you that every situation needs a complicated 
solution.
More, if you have any situation that seems not to be ordinarly solved,
using a complicated way will always solve it.
It's just a matter of coding.

P.S. :  and think about that : if MS brought a SIGN() function, that means 
something was unfeasable without it. I mean inside MS world.
