You live in the past. Two weeks ago the US arrested some former Vietnam
vets and some former Laotian soldiers for buying weapons and plotting a coup
in Laos; a communist country by the way. I believe Ortega, Chavez and
Castro are still running their countries. Abu Graihb, Guantanimo, torture
of any kind are wrong. The US has done terrible things. People here agree
on that. Killing civilians indiscriminately is Terrorism. The people
blowing up innocent civilians in the market places of Iraq, kidnapping,
beheading etc. are murderers, pure and simple. Even the Sunni insurgents
seem to agree on that as they killed the leader of Al Quida in Iraq last
week. Presumably over a disagreement about tactics. But you have already
made up your mind. Your emotional anti-Americanism is well known. The US
is not responsible for all the poverty in the world, or poor education or
any of the other conditions that nurture terrorists. We (the west) are just
a scapegoat for these failings. If these countries like Pakistan or Saudi
Arabia set their own houses in order this terrorist craze would subside.
Also the American government officials responsible for the illegal contra
war in Nicaragua were found guilty by the US congress for their crimes,
even if most of them were pardoned. The Iraq war is immensely unpopular in
the US and is widely considered to have been a huge mistake. Unfortunately
for everyone the bloodshed and violence of the past is all too much with us
and unless we can forget it all we will remain stuck in this killing and
war. You and your attitudes show that you are very much still stuck in an
outraged past. Graham.
