The only Freon that's available now is the stuff that was recovered from old
refrigerators and such. It is banned and no more Freon is being
manufactured. Soon the stuff will cost so much there will be no point in
using it at all anymore.

It is still cheaper than a new home A/C unit. We don't have any of the old
style units anymore, but when we did we were replacing each of them as they
needed service because the handwriting was on the wall.
