Lets just say, I will go a little further to look for an alternative to
plastic where possible. It most certainly has its uses, some life saving, I
will agree. But for example I would not install kitchen worktops when I
could have tiles tops instead. I will always look for an alternative to
plastic first and only go the plastic route when nothing else works or
expense deters.
Anyway this is a little off topic so I will shut up now. And no I don’t
remember any nasty plastic experiences other than having to use it :)

No, but it does mean that you are being a little irrational about it. I can
understand you not liking plastic where there are better/more
aesthetic/natural alternatives - but what about those applications of
plastics (some of them literally life-saving) for which there are no
alternatives ? And where does this irrational, morbid dislike of "plastic"
stem from ? Did you perhaps have an unpleasant experience with a plastic
dummy (aka pacifier) as a child (or perhaps later, as an
adolescent) ?
