I think it's too complex.  I changed the 2nd r2 to r3 and still had the 
problem.  My workaround solution was to create a view called 
vLatestRates with that subquery and simply join to that.  Works great 
now.  My concern for the future is when it gets ported to a non-VFP 
backend, but that'll be a different bridge for a different day.  ;-)
