The network and workstations at this client are currently configured
with the worst combination of write and read caching on the server and
workstations. I'm not having any problems with my VMP app so far but
we're still going to change the server and client settings for the
sake of the data.

Yes, write caching on the server and workstations ought to work fine,
but it doesn't always. :)
