Plain SCATTER *is* just assigning the values to variables - I can't
imagine that there would be any difference at all; certainly none
that would be slower. SCATTER NAME, OTOH, creates an object with
those values, so while that shouldn't be particularly slow, it is at
least a different process and could have an effect.
Of course, there's only one way to find out - test it in real-world
conditions.
